BTS’ RM deletes Instagram update amid backlash after Suga’s drunk driving controversy

A celebratory Instagram post by BTS leader RM, Kim Namjoon, promoting the success of his solo album, Right Place Wrong Person, has unexpectedly sparked controversy. The usually exciting news faced strong criticism due to its ill-timed timing. Just a day earlier, fellow band member Suga was caught driving an electric scooter while drunk. The rapper has since apologised, claiming he ignored relevant rules.

The post was reportedly reshared by another creator, JNKRYD, which was similar to the one shared by RM a day earlier. But, within minutes, the BTS leader deleted the post. However, many criticised him for being insensitive, with some suggesting that he was ignoring or downplaying the seriousness of the situation. “He never really cared and always posted what he wanted,” one social media user wrote. “How insensitive,” another quipped. “Why this time, of all times?” another added.

Fans defend RM’s actions amid Suga controversy

While a section of fans continued to criticize the leader, many stood in support of the Indigo singer and defended his actions. They said that he might not have been aware of the news due to his military service, as access to mobile devices is restricted for a certain period of time.

“He may not know because he’s in the military. He deleted the post immediately,” one commented. “How cruel of you guys to criticize him without letting him know,” another said. “Did RM do anything wrong? Why are people reacting like this to him? This is absurd. All the other members are diligently completing or have already completed their military service. If you want to criticize, aim it at the person who caused the incident,” another said and so on.
