BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, was recently caught on camera looking completely unrecognizable. He had previously mentioned gaining weight during a chat with ARMY on Weverse, however, he appeared strong and carried himself with a great personality, which was a perfect fit for his special duty duties. The K-pop idol was spotted patrolling an event in Chuncheon where he met a senior who at first failed to recognize him in uniform but later praised his gentlemanly behavior.
BTS V meets Big Mama’s Lee Ji Young at a military event
The Layover crooner, who is currently serving in the military along with fellow group members, was spotted having a brief conversation with Big Mama’s Lee Ji Young at a ceremony held in Chuncheon City while he was in the middle of patrolling. Taehyung is the only BTS member who opted to enlist in the special task force while the rest of the group including Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, RM, Suga, and Jungkook continue to serve in the mandatory military service in South Korea.
The special event held on June 9 celebrated Korea’s “Patriots and Veterans Month” and featured incredible performances by famous artists, including Lee Ji Young.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government website, “Every year on June 6, the public remembers the devotion and sacrifice of fallen heroes and military personnel who fought for the country. Memorial Day was designated as a holiday on June 25, 1956, to commemorate those who fought and died during the Korean War.”

In the viral video on social media, an excited V is seen whispering something in Lee Ji Young’s ear, which shocked Lee Ji Young. Although Taehyung is her junior, she later clarified that she did not recognize him, probably due to his new look in military uniform. After this, there was a little conversation between the two, after which V shook hands with her, bowed in respect, saluted and then ran towards his military van.
“Did he go to say hi to his senior in person? This is crazy. Even though BTS is absolutely top notch, he’s amazing,” a fan wrote on social media while commenting on the video.
“Wow, V’s image has changed. He had a fragile image before joining the army, but I think he is very healthy and bright,” another wrote.
“My friend was at the event, he saw V patrolling, Tae Tae looked so handsome guys, I have tears in my eyes,” another said.
Another added: “It’s even nicer to see him actually working. He even went to say hi to his senior.”

BTS V praised for his ‘gentlemanly behaviour’
Lee Ji Young later shared the video on her Instagram and explained what happened at that moment, which made her praise V’s gentlemanliness and great behavior. Calling the Singularity crooner a ‘handsome soldier,’ she wrote, “Today, after finishing my performance at the Chuncheon Veteran Culture Festival, a handsome soldier greeted me when I got off the stage. I realized he was V from BTS, my junior.”
The Big Mama member added, “His stage presence always impresses me, but it was unexpected to see his gentleness offstage. Wearing his uniform, he looked even more stunning. Although we couldn’t take photos due to the crowd, we thank Kuang for the video.” Wishing him a healthy military time and a full return, she added, “I hope you complete your military service healthily and I look forward to seeing your amazing look again.”
