The news of Suga getting punishment was posted on Reddit
People on Reddit have posted about the incident and suggested what punishment Suga could receive. One person wrote, “His BAC was 0.227 percent, which is crazy. He told the police he had one drink, which is not true. Since it’s above 0.2 percent, he could potentially get a higher fine or 2-5 years in prison. His scooter, based on the speed it can travel at and the weight, is not classified as a personal mobility device, so he would be investigated and charged as if he was driving and operating a vehicle.”
One comment said, “For reference, 0.08 percent is the limit for license revocation, and 0.227 percent is the BAC Kim Saeron had when he crashed into guardrails and trees while attempting to drive drunk. And he was essentially blacklisted. For most people, 0.227 percent BAC is on the border of unconsciousness — it’s no wonder he collapsed. I doubt he’ll be blacklisted, but to put it mildly, it’s a miracle he got home without injuries and without hurting anyone else.”
Another person said, “I think his career will be just about fine, but at this point there is no chance of Suvicha coming back. Even if he overcomes his drinking without completely abstaining from alcohol, it is a bad thing.” Another comment read, “However, most likely he will get a fine. But hopefully he will think and maybe get treatment.”
About Suga’s case
A few days ago, news broke that Suga aka Min Yoongi was driving an “electric kickboard” when he fell while parking it. A police officer spotted him and conducted a Breathalyzer test, which Suga failed. However, the police later said that Suga’s vehicle had a seat and resembled an electric scooter under traffic law. The type of vehicle affects the penalty for drunk driving.
Seoul’s Yongsan Police Station booked him for allegedly violating the Road Traffic Act. Suga and his agency, Big Hit Music, released an apology on Weverse. Suga has been serving his mandatory military service as a social service agent since September 2023. Such agents usually work regular working hours and are allowed to return home after working hours.
