BTS’s Suga continues to dominate the charts even without releasing new music. His solo work under the name Agust D is gaining popularity again, thanks to dedicated fans who are promoting his old tracks.
On September 4, his debut mixtape, Agust D’s The Last, reached the top of the World Digital Song Sales chart for the first time since its release eight years ago. This is just one of many chart-topping achievements achieved by Suga recently amid his DUI scandal, which has upped his career count.
BTS Suga hits new heights in digital music rankings
According to Forbes on September 5, BTS’s Suga has scored two new chart hits in the U.K. this week. His songs The Last and Polar Night have both entered the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts for the first time. Fans are buying these tracks in roughly equal amounts, as they are ranked next to each other on both charts.

The Last made its chart debut at number 55 on the Official Singles Sales list and at number 54 on the Official Singles Download list. On the other hand, Polar Night, which recently reached number 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Songs Chart on August 23 following SUGA’s DUI-related interrogation, also made its first appearance at number 56 on the Official Singles Sales list and entered the Official Singles Download chart at number 55.
Suga has appeared on these charts before, but with only a few songs. With these two new hits, he has collectively increased his total number of appearances on the charts. Including these new entries, Suga now has five solo hits on the charts.
Suga displays global dominance
After news of Suga’s drunk driving case broke, his fans rallied in large numbers to support him. In early August, his stage name, Agust D, received a major boost with his albums. D-Day, D2And his debut album climbed the Worldwide iTunes Albums Chart. D-DayAlbums such as Snooze, Haegeum and The Last, which were part of his world tour, made strong comebacks.

Fans say ‘messing with the wrong fan base’
In an environment where many Korean celebrities face criticism for scandals such as DUI, Suga’s career seems to be largely unaffected. Many believe that the Korean media intentionally sensationalized the incident when Yoongi was detained for driving an electric scooter while drunk. Fans argue that they have “messed with the wrong fans.”
