New Delhi:
Hina Khan is fighting her battle with cancer with remarkable courage. In June, the actress revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Since then, Hina has been sharing snippets from her journey. The latest video released on Instagram features Hina shaving her head off. The video opens with a throwback clip of Hina’s pixie cut. After this, a text appears: “I loved keeping my hair so short which I probably would have never done. Though I couldn’t enjoy the short-hair-phase for long. It felt good. Insha Allah when my hair grows back, I might continue with this pixie look for some time. But for now. Pixie says goodbye. Because it’s time to chop it off!”
Hina Khan then adds, “Again, you can only win this if you can embrace yourself, accept it. And I choose to accept my battle wounds because I believe if you embrace yourself you are one step closer to your healing. I really want to heal and focus on that part and that aspect of my life.” I don’t want to go through the process where [I don’t want to go through that process, where] Every time I put my hands in my hair a lot of hair falls out. It’s very stressful. It’s very frustrating. I don’t want to go through this.”
Talking about the importance of mental health, Hina Khan said, “I have to take the steps that are already in my control. I also feel like I want to tell you all that if your mental health is right, then your physical health is 10 times better. [Before anything else, I need to take the steps that are within my control. I also feel that I want to tell you all this: if your mental health is good, your physical health is ten times better.] So in order to work on your physical health, you need to focus on your mental health as well. Mental health is in my hands, in my control. [My mental health is in my hands, in my control.] So I really want to work on it and stay positive and happy and do all the things I can to make this journey that I am on, At least I am not mentally stressed about it. Physically, of course, there will be pain but I want to focus on being mentally strong, doing Rahu and all those things which will reduce my stress. [In this journey of mine, at least I don’t want to be mentally stressed. Physically, of course, there will be pain and such, but I want to focus on staying mentally strong and doing everything I can to reduce my stress.] So this is one of those things. I’m going to do it today.”
For all those battling cancer, Hina Khan said, “For all of you who are going through this tough time, especially women, I know how tough it is. It is very stressful. It is very painful. Don’t let yourself go through all this. Just cut it off before it collapses. That’s what I tell you guys and that’s what I am going to do. Remember that you are still you, nothing is going to change. In fact, you are more beautiful than ever. So embrace this new version of yourself. Embrace this new truth, this new journey with every breath, every cell, every time, in every way possible. Trust me, it is really going to help a lot. You are going to be mentally very strong. And I don’t know. I think I will carry this bald look very well after some time. I will wear wigs wherever needed. But I will also carry this bald head which I will be proud of. Lots of love.”
“So, let’s get started,” the actress said, before shaving her head with a trimmer. BismillahMay Allah give us all lots of strength.” At the end of the video, we are shown chopped hair lying on the floor.
In her caption, Hina Khan wrote, “Pixie says goodbye, it’s time to hang it up! Another attempt to normalise the most difficult phase of the beauty journey. Remember ladies.. our strength is our patience and calm. Nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it.. Mind over matter dua.”
Reacting to the post, Rubina Dilaik said, “Duaaaaa.” Mouni Roy commented, “Sending all my love..” Jihu Parmar wrote, “Hina you are the epitome of strength. May God hold you strong and you sail through this tough time. Your strength is admirable. Lots of love to you. Get well soon. Love. Prayers.” Sophie Choudry posted, “Sending you love, strength, positive energy and all my prayers beautiful girl. Inshallah everything will be fine.” Suni Rajwar called Hina the “strongest”.
