Candlete concert to present its first Carnatic-Theme show in Chennai

Last November, Candlelight Concerts made their debut during the Margizi Festival in Chennai, known for the inclusion of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network for Music.

Candlelight concert, starring Live Your City, has been hosted by more than 20 shows in Chennai to date. And now, it is ready for another stellar performance. The title ‘Candlelight Shruthilaya – Tribute to the veterans of Karnataka’, will feature Flotist J Jayant and will be held on 22 August (5.30 pm) at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

The candlelight concert, as the name suggests, is known for its candlete atmosphere. Parangal Begwani, Team Lead (India), shares candlelight, “We provide a calm, concentrated and reflective location by LED candles.”

Talking about the show, Jayant says, “Somebody’s music is often influenced by the atmosphere. Therefore, it is important to cure the Karnataka concerts in a beautiful space, which provides a visual appeal. It impresses the way the audience absorbs the audience, understands and reacts – an excited and not a powerful little experience.”

According to Pranjal, “The music identity of the city is honored worldwide, and at this place, our purpose is not to compete with traditional forms, but to complement them with a new and specific format. Cooperating with Jayant.

The team has worked twice with Jayant – they started 2025 with a candlelight concert in Museum Theater, Egmore, with their fusion bands, hugs and harmoni (Indian bamboo flute project), and followed it with another set of shows in May.

Jayant says that the audience can expect a proper cornatic concert with famous and rare crites. “There will also be an unexpected turn, which I hope the audience enjoys,” says Jayant.

The concert includes two sets: Carnat, where Jayant will perform with Bhardwaj, followed by “AR Rahman Ko Tribute” (8 am), VG Vigneshwar on the keyboard and Praveen Narayan on Tabla.
