Ear 2025: Ten years after ‘Masan’, filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan returned to the Cannes Film Festival with a heartbreaking film ‘Homebound’.
On Wednesday, ‘Homebound’, which was performed by Ishaan Khat, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, was displayed in the 78th edition of the prestigious festival. Made the premiere special, there was an ovation lasting about 9 minutes by the audience to the team.
Several scenes of screening appeared online, in which filmmaker Neeraj Gaywan could be seen emotional when he got a thunderous thunder. Neeraj with tears-eyes also hugged producer Karan Johar.
Ishaan also became emotional as the crowd stood up and clapped the nonstop in the theater.

According to the variety, ‘Homebound’ revolves around two childhood friends from a small North Indian village, which chases a police job that promises them the dignity they have denied for a long time. But as they inch their dreams close to their dreams, the growing frustration has threatened the bond that puts them together.
Ghaywan described ‘Homebound’ as a deep personal story about friendship, dignity and existence. The director said, “It is about those who are often ignored, and calm strengths that they rarely stop for them,” the director said, hoping that he expects the film “Help us closely-helps us to watch closely-with goodwill-and see what we are air-conditioned to ignore.”
Legendary filmmaker Martin Schoers’ recently appeared in the film as an executive producer. In an official note shared by the film’s team, Martin Scorscs praised ‘Homebound’.
“I watched Neeraj’s first film Masaan in 2015 and I like it very much, so when Melita Toscan du Plantar sent me the project of his second film, I was eager. I was eager to love the story, culture, and was ready to help. Neeraj made a beautifully prepared film which is an important contribution in Indian cinema.
