This is for all the men and women who have reached out with their stories of abusive marriages. You are not alone.

October 11th, 2025, at 1 pm, I left Austria with the help of neighbors to escape what I experienced as systematic harassment and abuse. I was forced to return to India with only the minimum amount of money in my bank account to survive the rest of my life.

The former Miss India and Miss Universe fourth runner-up revealed more about the court battle she had to fight to stay inside her house in India.

In India, I had to approach the court just to enter and access my house, a property I had purchased in 2004, long before our marriage, which my husband is now trying to claim as his own. To do all this I had to take a huge loan.

Despite joint custody and an existing order from the Austrian Family Court, I am currently denied any communication with my 3 children and am in despair!
My children’s access to me has been repeatedly interfered with, including exposure to selective media narratives resulting in interruptions in regular communication between parents and children, as well as brainwashing and intimidation to force them to say things against me, a mother who has done nothing but take care of them since the day they were born, moving from one country to another to support their father’s career.
In early September, I was served a divorce notice by my husband at the local post office under the pretext of receiving a gift ordered for our 15th wedding anniversary, to which I was induced by him.

Subsequently, I repeatedly and legally sought an amicable separation in good faith, giving priority only to the welfare of the children. These efforts were met with demands related to my pre-marital property and unfair terms to take away my freedom and dignity even after divorce.

Overnight, I needed to justify my role as a mother, as a parent, despite being my children’s mother and their primary caregiver. My entire world was taken away from me in an instant.

Celina Jaitley talks about divorce on 15th anniversary

She also claimed that despite their amicable separation, she does not have access to their 3 children and was served a divorce notice on their 15th wedding anniversary.

When I asked for an amicable separation, I was told that my professional background and achievements were irrelevant and I was advised to take a job as a cleaner or in a supermarket in the small village where we lived in Austria, in order to maintain joint custody of our children. I questioned that, when I can live my life successfully on my own terms in my own country, why am I being deprived of the dignity of my children, life and work, being brutally abandoned after my property was taken, why am I not being given the same after I tried my best to make an abusive marriage successful with my loyalty and dedication for 15 years?

As is the case today, under circumstances created by jurisdictional constraints, financial pressures and systemic imbalances, I am denied access to my children, simply because I have decided to stand up and fight for my rights.

I was also denied access to a portion of my rental income in 2024, preventing me from traveling to Dubai to obtain legal aid for my brother Major Vikrant.

That’s what systematic harassment and abuse is designed to do.. Isolating you, silencing you and making you feel invisible – we were burning while they were blaming us for the smell of ashes
