Actress Celina Jaitley opened about the emotional toll that is taking the current India-Pakistan position on her.
Celina is the daughter of late Colonel Vikram Kumar Jaitley and granddaughter of late Colonel Eric Francis of Rajputna Rifles.
Reacting to recent developments, he told News18, “Hearing that the Army Public School in Udampur, he was attacked at the end of this week, I was shed tears. For us, it’s not just news. It’s not personal, and the pain is deep.”
A few days ago, Colonel Sophia Qureshi confirmed that Pakistan had attacked schools and medical facilities in Srinagar, Avantpura and Udampur. The sacrifices of soldiers on the border have reminded Celina of their father’s bravery during the 1971 war.
“He was just 21 when he fought in the 1971 war. He was seriously injured during the Battle of Bhaduria, maintaining serious bullets and pellet injuries. Despite lifelong wounds, he continued to serve the country with unmatched pride and honor, eventually commanded the prestigious 16 kumoon regiments.
Celina, who was born in the 1980s, stated that her upbringing was shaped by the military service of her father and grandfather. “I was born in the 1980s, but as the daughter and granddaughter of the frontline Infantreman, I grew up to know that every goodbye could be the last.
He also recently shared an old picture on social media, which featured his grandfather with the second president of Pakistan, General Ayub Khan. Recalling the post, he said, “My grandfather was a highly decorated officer who fought bravely in the 1962 Chinese Indian War and the 1965 Indo-Pak war. In my family, there was nothing taught through respects for the armed forces; it lived every day.”
Celina also revealed her aspirations to join the armed forces. “I was preparing for the Joint Defense Services Examination and AFMC even while chasing modeling. When I won Miss India, my father and I still expected that I would eventually join the armed forces. Many women in my family have served proudly, including my aunt, which included a naval doctor,” she shared.
He said, “My desire to wear and serve is one of my biggest incomplete dreams.”
