The heartbreaking moment shown in the clip stems from the singer’s struggle with stiff-person syndrome, a neurological condition that has largely affected her ability to perform. Dion revealed that she had been hiding the diagnosis for some time, and her tearful confession addressed the burden this secret has put on both her and her fans, even during shows when she pretended ‘nothing was wrong’.

“There were moments when I cheated and I tapped the microphone, like it was the microphone’s fault,” Celine can be heard saying in the documentary, which premiered at the BAFTA event in Piccadilly, London, on Tuesday. Moving on, the All By Myself singer addressed her fans, saying, “I’m sorry it took me so long to get to you.” This is possibly the first time the singer has opened up about how her medical condition has affected her singing career, so much so that she wanted to hide it from her fans. Celine, who is no longer on her performing tour, cried while reminiscing her best days and said how much she misses being on stage. “I have to admit every day has been a struggle,” she said, according to Mirror.

Earlier this week, the 56-year-old actress received a standing ovation during the documentary’s premiere in New York City. She described the project as a “love letter” to her fans. Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor, the documentary will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 25. Apart from highlighting the ups and downs of her life and her battle with a life-altering illness, the film will also include clips from her late husband René’s funeral and precious moments spent with her sons.
Talking about the making of the documentary, the singer said, “The last few years have been a very challenging journey for me, from knowing my condition to learning to live with it and manage it, but not letting it define me.”
