Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan finalize divorce after six-year legal battle, reach agreement over custody of daughter

The former couple, famous for their roles in the film Step Up, have reached a settlement which eliminates the need for a trial scheduled for December. While the full details of the divorce agreement have been kept confidential, it has been confirmed that the two parties will settle any future custody disputes through private talks with a judge.

According to documents obtained by E! News, the couple’s separation agreement included contentious discussions about Tatum’s financial interests in the “Magic Mike” franchise, which became a significant point of contention in their legal proceedings.

Jenna filed for divorce in 2018, citing various disagreements over shared assets, specifically regarding the intellectual property from Magic Mike. According to E! News, in a recent filing, Jenna claimed Tatum had placed the earnings from the franchise in an irrevocable trust and transferred licensing rights without her knowledge.

Tatum denied these claims, saying, “I’ve never denied that.” [Jenna] her share of any community property or income,” and emphasized that she had full access to their financial records during the marriage.

The ugly divorce battle

Tensions escalated in the months leading up to the settlement, with Tatum alleging that Dewan was employing delay tactics to prolong the proceedings. According to E! News, he argued that her efforts to disqualify his legal team were baseless and aimed at hindering the case.

Jenna, who is now engaged to Steve Kazee and the mother of two additional children, also faced challenges in dealing with the complications of the separation.
