Eubanks’ statement comes after the band announced their reunion, which will see the Dead Sara singer on co-lead vocals and Colin Brittain on drums.

Chester Bennington’s mother is “upset” by Linkin Park’s decision to replace the late singer with Emily Armstrong. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Susan Eubanks revealed that the nu-metal band previously assured her that she would be informed of any future changes if its members continued to perform as a group. However, Eubanks now feels “betrayed” because the band, co-founded by singer/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, has hired the 38-year-old singer as Bennington’s replacement.

Chester Bennington’s mother felt ‘betrayed’ by Linkin Park

“I feel betrayed,” said the mother of the legendary rock singer, who committed suicide in 2017 at age 41. “He told me that if he was ever going to do something, he would tell me. He didn’t tell me, and maybe he knew I was doing it. [wasn’t] “I’m going to be very happy. I’m very upset about this,” Eubanks told the magazine, claiming that Linkin Park was “trying to erase the past.”

Eubanks’ statement comes nearly a month after the rock band announced they would be reuniting for a new album and tour, with the Dead Sara singer on co-lead vocals and Colin Brittain on drums. Bennington’s mother revealed that although she had met Shinoda and Joe Hahn several times over the past few years, they never said a word about a reunion.

“I found out about Emily Armstrong joining the band on Google,” Eubanks said. “When I go on Google to search for something, Linkin Park is the first thing that comes up. And I saw, ‘We have an announcement.’ That whole week, if you type anything into Google, they’re at the top,” she added.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in the world that has a voice like that. And when I heard it, I was just so shocked that no, they’re trying to do exactly what Chester did, but they’re not succeeding,” Eubanks continued. “They’re singing the songs that Chester sang and I don’t know how the fans are taking it but I know how I take it. [Armstrong] “It’s painful to sing my son’s songs,” he said.
