Mumbai: Actor Ashish Dixit, who plays the lead role of Kartik in the serial “Chhathi Maiya Ki Bitiya”, says his experience of playing this quirky and unpredictable character was unique and challenging.
The actor said the role is helping him explore new dimensions to the character, which he wasn’t able to do in his previous roles.
Ashish told, “Before this show, I was always cast as a sweet and innocent guy, what you call a chocolate boy. But Kartik is completely different. He is mature, intense and unpredictable, with a lot of depth.”
Elaborating further on the complexities of his character, Ashish said, “The story is full of ups and downs, keeping everyone guessing about his next move. When Vaishnavi enters his life, the audience also gets to see his romantic side. This role is a real challenge for me as it is very different from any character I have played before.”
Ashish said, “I am loving this role because it gives me a chance to grow as an actor through its various avatars. I have my own unique touch to each role I play, and I aim to leave a lasting impact with this character as well.”
Talking about the show, the actor said: “‘Chhathi Maiya Ki Bitiya’ is doing really well, and we are receiving love for the show and my character not only from India but also from Pakistan and Indonesia. I am really enjoying bringing this character to life.”
‘Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya’ is an emotional family drama centered around Vaishnavi (played by Vrinda Dahal), an orphan who worships Chhathi Maiyya (played by Devoleena Bhattacharjee) as her mother.
The recent episodes showcase Kartik’s heroic role in which he saves Vaishnavi and himself. However, Urmila stops Kartik by giving him another dose of the medicine, which makes him fall unconscious while trying to chase Vaishnavi.

Talking about the work front, Ashish made his TV debut with ‘Bal Gopal Kare Dhamaal’. He has acted in serials like ‘Siya Ram – Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya’, ‘Dil Dhoondta Hai’ and ‘Aap Ke Saajne Se’.
