New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal starrer is making Chhawa waves, with his invincible box office success to participate in Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Saturday evening to attend a special screening. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film follows the story of the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, a fierce warrior of the Maratha Empire, who fought bravely against Aurangzeb’s Mughal rule.
Taking in his official X handle, CM Vishnu Dev Sai shared a glimpse of a special screening. He wrote, “Today, in Nava Raipur, I saw the film Chhava, which is based on the life, struggle and sacrifices of Sambhaji Maharaj, the brave son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. ,
Praising the film which he further wrote, “Sambhaji Maharaj dedicated his entire life to protect the nation, religion and culture.” He never compromised on his principles. The film has been powerful and widely depicted its bravery and sacrifice, filled with pride in every Indian. ,

PM Modi accepted Maharashtra’s contribution to cinema, “Dino toh and washed away.” He credited Marathi writer Shivaji Sawant’s novel Chhawa to bring the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj at the forefront.
On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared Laxman Utekar’s film Chhawa to be tax free in the state.
The dominance of the chhawa is visible through the film’s record-breaking numbers. The film performed exceptionally well in its first 36 days at the box office, which according to the SACNILK report earns an estimated of 574.95 crore (India Net). Making it the highest -grossing film of Vicky Kaushal. It crossed its previous blockbusters ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, ‘Raazi’, and ‘Sam Bahadur’.
The period drama has a great cast, which includes Akshaye Khanna, Vineet Kumar Singh, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, and Diana Paints in Pivolell roles.
Chhawa hit theaters on 14 February 2025, and it is fully ready for OTT debut.
