at one point Chu Mantar, We see the horrific scene of hide and seek Magic Being played on the tablet. It’s a wonderful sight that relies more on concept than sound. Karva Navneet’s latest horror drama needed such out-of-the-box thinking to achieve its full potential.

Chhu Mantar It has all the makings of a typical horror film. You have a haunted mansion built during the British era. As expected, it has a backstory. A family of four gets caught up in the paranormal events happening inside the bungalow and a paranormal worker has to solve the mystery.

Sharan plays the role of a ghostbuster who decides to fix the mansion’s dangerous reputation. Called Dynamo, he is considered one of the best paranormal researchers in the country. The roles of his subordinates are played by Chikkanna, Aditi Prabhudeva and Kiran Chandrashekhar.

Chu Mantar (Kannada)

Director: Get it done Navneet

Mould: Sharan, Chikkanna, Aditi Prabhudeva, Meghna Gaonkar,

Runtime: 142 minutes

Story: Four friends enter a haunted house in search of treasure. Unexpected events put their lives in danger

Chhu Mantar Starts off as a horror comedy, with Chikkanna and Sharan delivering witty lines, but the humor soon loses its luster as the dialogues turn from cheesy to silly. The film takes a long time to get going, with the first major twist coming at the interval point. However, the surprise is worth the wait, and Navneet has set up the film well, but the second half is very disappointing.

The film lacks solid jump scares. depicting ghosts as terrifying monsters, Chhu Mantar To scare people he resorts to old tricks. Despite stellar performances from Meghna Gaonkar and Aditi Prabhudeva, the film doesn’t scare you.

It is confusing why director Navneet considers the film a thriller. Every plot point in the story leads to a surprise. Although such turns are not bad, Chhu Mantar The basic duty of a horror movie: fail to scare the audience. The cinematography and background score of the film is well-crafted, which does justice to the background. The passionate climax is whistle-worthy, but feels forced to produce the same impact we experienced Kantara (2022).

I enjoyed the final surprise, a nod to an old horror hit involving a superstar. In fact, the character of Sharan bears a striking resemblance to that famous character from the popular film. Although artificial, the idea of a sequel sounds quite juicy to think about, especially if you consider the possibility of a horror universe in Kannada cinema. If there is to be any continuity, the franchise must have the right balance of suspense and terrifying drama.
