‘I named her favourite tormentor’
In her post, Chinmayi wrote, “I am sad that I just found out that Vairamuthu has written the lyrics for Maharaja – a movie that talks about rape and sexual abuse. The Tamil industry is the only industry in the world that banned someone from working because I named their favourite molester.”
She further stated that she would not watch the film and said, “I don’t think I am going to watch it, but I just found out that a journalist like Asha Meera was harassed for expressing her opinion about the film. I keep expecting powerful people in Tamil cinema to do better or the right thing – but am disappointed time and again. There is a lot of sensitivity.”
The singer concluded by saying, “I wonder if there will be retribution at some point someday. May those who promote molesters, rapists and sex offenders get what they deserve, many times over.”
