Chitrangada Singh, Soundary Sharma addresses sexism allegations in Housefull 5, it is called family entertainer

New Delhi: Actors Chitrangada Singh and Soundary Sharma have responded to the growing criticism around Housefull 5, especially on their alleged sexist humor and depiction of women. Accepting that not everyone could resonate with the style of the film, both actresses defended its tone, called it a light, family entertainer.

Chitrangada Singh, who acted in the film with Akshay Kumar, addressed the backlash in an interview with Zoom. He emphasized that every film has a different style and comic tone, which refers to similar comedy franchises such as Hera Pheri and Golmaal.

“Every film has its own tone and meter – this is that kind of film,” she said. “If you go with friends or family, you will have fun. Every family has different dynamics. It is really up to the audience what they enjoy. Everyone deserves their opinion, and I am not defending anything.”

Singh also compared Housefull 5 to Hollywood comedy, such as you do not mess up with Zohan and Pink Panther, saying they share a certain exaggerated style of humor, which should not be judged by similar standards as severe cinema.

He said, “Not every film cannot be an airlift, and an airlift houseful may not be 5,” he said, films serve different objectives and appeal to different audiences.

Soundary Sharma, who attracted attention through his song Lal Pari in the film, also addressed criticism, especially about the costumes worn by female actors.

Sharma said, “I have not read much honestly. I am busy celebrating the release of the film.” “The producers will be given a better place to respond. As actors, we follow the vision of a director. The film is made with heart and humor, and nothing.”

On the issue of costumes, he said: “I don’t see anything new here. Actresses have worn bikini and sarees in many films – it shows society and cinematic trends. I really don’t understand resentment.”

Housefull 5 includes Akshay Kumar, Ritish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, Ferdin Khan, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Shreyas Talpad, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and others. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and continues the franchise’s trademark over-the-top, slapstick comedy.
