Marvel star Chris Evans will be honored with the Spirit of Service Award alongside his A Starting Point (ASP) partners Mark Kassen and Joe Kiani. The Hollywood ReporterThe honor is given by the Partnership for Public Service, a Washington-based nonprofit organization.

Evans and his business partners at ASP, a video-based civic engagement platform, will receive the award during the nonprofit’s Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals awards ceremony, which will be held Sept. 11 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The annual ceremony is intended to honor “outstanding career federal employees for their achievements and contributions to the public interest,” but the Spirit of Service Award is different because it “recognizes individuals outside of government whose work is vital to the goals of better government and stronger democracy.”

In a joint statement, Evans and Kassen, a filmmaker, and Kiani, a technology entrepreneur, expressed their gratitude to the Partnership for Public Service for the award. They are “very proud” of the talented team at the company they founded in 2020.

“We founded ASP to encourage civic engagement and make it accessible to all, so we are thrilled to see ASP receive this recognition alongside so many exceptional federal employees who share the same goals within government,” he said.

Previous recipients of the award include former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Darren Walker of the Ford Foundation and former PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff.
