Superstar Chris Hemsworth was honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star for his contribution to the entertainment industry, with his family and Robert Downey Jr., his co-star in several Marvel films, also in attendance.
Hemsworth was accompanied by his parents Leonie and Craig Hemsworth, wife Elsa Pataky and their children, sons Sasha and Tristan and daughter India, in a rare public appearance for the family.
The “Extraction” star praised actor Pataky, saying she has been a constant support in his life.
“I want to say thank you to my beautiful wife, who has been with me throughout my career, always encouraging me and supporting me,” he said. “And it doesn’t occur to me that she put her own dreams aside to make mine come true and, again, (I) will always be indebted to you.
“The truth is, everything that I do, none of these moments, these special occasions and events, none of them are special without you. I love you,” Hemsworth said in his speech after acknowledging the star.
Downey Jr. paid a funny and emotional tribute to the 40-year-old actor.
“I approached his fellow Avengers and explained in three simple words, ‘What is Chris Hemsworth?’ First, (Jeremy) Renner says, ‘Extremely annoyingly amazing.’ (Mark) Ruffalo said, emphatically, ‘Friend from work.’ Scarlett (Johansson) took issue with the ‘sensitive leading lady’ deeply. Captain America (Chris Evans) called him ‘the second best Chris.’”
“Chris is a little hard to describe. He’s very elusive because of the beautiful packaging. However, upon further investigation, he has a true intelligence and a depth to his soul, and it’s been a great pleasure for me to have known you for so many years,” Downey said in his speech. “You stun people in Hollywood because you’re a real man,” the “Iron Man” star added.
Hemsworth, who is currently playing a negative role in the recently released “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” also received support from co-star Anya Taylor-Joy and director George Miller at the event.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an iconic Los Angeles attraction, with over 2000 names inscribed on Hollywood’s famous sidewalk.
