Christopher Nolan is teaming up with Universal for a new film to star Matt Damon

Christopher Nolan is setting up his new feature project after the runaway success of his last directorial venture, Oppenheimer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, for the latest project, which will be released in US theaters on July 17, 2026, Nolan is once again teaming up with Hollywood studio Universal as well as actor Matt Damon. Matt Damon, who starred in Nolan’s 2014 film “Interstellar” and “Oppenheimer” (2023), is in talks to star in the new film.

Last year, Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”, starring J. A gripping portrayal of the role of Robert Oppenheimer, it emerged as a leading contender at the Oscars, garnering multiple nominations and winning eight awards.

Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of Oppenheimer won him the Best Actor award, while Nolan took home the long-awaited Best Director Oscar.

The film was Nolan’s first film outside Warner Bros. in nearly 20 years. For the studio, he directed the “Dark Knight” trilogy and other hits including “Dunkirk” and “Inception.”

Oppenheimer was released on July 21 along with Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Barbie, starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. The biopic, set during World War II, is based on physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb. This is the story of that period of history when they feared that the testing of the atomic bomb would inflame the atmosphere and destroy the world, yet they pressed the button. J. Robert Oppenheimer helped invent nuclear weapons during World War II. Actor Matt Damon plays General Leslie Groves, the head of the Manhattan Project. Emily Blunt stars as Oppenheimer’s wife, Katherine Oppenheimer.

The Hindustan Times review of the film states, “At its core, Oppenheimer is about the messy, deeply troubling intersection between science and politics. How selfish, self-serving leaders are awarded unbridled power.” How wars and governments corrupt, corrupt and degrade science.
