For college student Abir, who was starring as the Wind Master in Heaven’s Official Blessing, reading comics was a solace. “Since my father’s job was transferable, we moved around, and I had no permanent friends. That’s when I turned to comics for escape, and that made me happy. When you come to an event like this, you realize how open the community is. You get a chance to meet a lot of like-minded people.”

“I love the unique ways people design their costumes,” said Snehal, dressed as He Juan from Heaven’s Official Blessing.

Dressed up as Raven from Teen Titans, Trina agrees that creating a costume is a daunting task. “My costume has so many elements that I had to borrow from my friends to put it together. With makeup on, it took me an hour to get ready for the event.
