New Delhi: Famous singer and composer of Oriya film industry, Abhijeet Majumdar has reportedly passed away at the age of 54.
According to a report by Kalinga TV, Majumdar breathed his last at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where he was undergoing treatment. He was suffering from chronic liver disease and his condition deteriorated on Saturday night.
Reports say that the musician was recently taken off ventilator support and shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He was suffering from several health problems including high blood pressure, hypothyroidism and chronic liver disease and later slipped into a coma.

Majumdar was widely known for his contributions to Odia cinema and music, earning recognition for his work as both a singer and composer.
Social media paid tribute
Meanwhile, social media platforms were flooded with heartfelt tributes from celebrities, fans and prominent personalities mourning the demise of the musician.
Expressing his grief, actor and MLA Akash Dasnayak said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of renowned playback singer and music director Abhijit Majumdar. His great contribution to the film and music industry will always be remembered. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peace of his soul.”

Filmmaker Suparno Satpathy also paid tribute, posting, “Sad to know about the demise of Mr. Abhijit Majumdar. Odia music industry has lost a great talent. Gone too soon. Condolences to his family, loved ones and fans.”

Who is Abhijeet Majumdar?
Born on 11 September 1971 in Odisha, Abhijeet Majumdar started his music career in the Sambalpuri music industry, where his talent was soon recognized. He later made a successful transition to Ollywood and emerged as one of the most respected musicians of his generation.
During his career, Majumdar composed more than 700 songs including Odia films, music albums and Sambalpuri tracks. His compositions defined the soundscape of many popular films, earning them widespread acclaim.
Some of his most favorite works include Love Story, Sister Sridevi, Golmaal Love, Mr. Majnu etc.
Abhijeet Majumdar is survived by his wife Ranjita Majumdar.
