The cast also includes Sergio Castellitto as a conservative bishop, Stanley Tucci as the liberal Cardinal Bellini, John Lithgow as the corrupt Cardinal Tremblay, Carlos Diehez as potential dark horse Cardinal Benitez, and Isabella Rossellini as the suspicious nun Sister Agnes.
