CPI (M) condemned the status of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, which will require intensive training to filmmakers and women from marginalized sections

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Kerala State Secretary MV Govindan on Saturday condemned the alleged statement of ADur Gopalakrishnan at a government -sponsored film Conclave, which requires at least “three weeks of intensity” for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) communities and women.

Talking to reporters at Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), Mr. Govindan said that Shri Gopalakrishnan recently claimed his words in the Conclave of Cinema that he was in good faith and later misrepresented.

“Shri Gopalakrishnan says he did not mean he did not mean. Still, there was a colloquial recruitment about feudal. Such discourses are injustice for modern, democratic and progressive society like us,” he said.

Shri Govindan said that Kerala had re-established the oppressive caste system, which he had “created a” artificial feudal-era “to rank human merit and hand over the positions in the society in a prejudicial way for the dustbin of history. ,

“Kerala has moved a lot further, beating a collapse era. The Minister of Culture said in the Conclave. Kerala is a progressive population home that is shaped by labor-class struggles and renaissance and progressive movements.

Shri Gopalakrishnan had disputed filmmakers among women by bracking and who was also meeting the marginalized sections of the society for rigorous training.

He also demanded transparency and emphasized the need for a fixed process, including the government at a grain level of subsidized film constructions.

Shri Gopalakrishnan also said that in some state-funds-funded presentations there was a lack of artistic ability and he was given a high budget to shut down public funds, which he said that he could be spent better for the needy and homeless.

The status of Shri Gopalakrishnan criticized for being allegedly wrong and feudal. Subsequently, Kerala State Commission for Schedule Cast and Schedule Tribes took cognizance of the matter. It sought a report from the museum police to investigate whether the alleged statement of Shri Gopalakrishnan has violated the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act).
