The Madame Web star’s dress “fell off” during the live interview, prompting host Jimmy Kimmel to ask if she was OK. After several attempts to fix it, the 34-year-old actress gave up and said, “OK, I’ll hold on to it.”

The Fifty Shades of Grey star appeared on the late-night talk show to discuss her new film Daddio. The drama film, which is set to release on June 28, is directed by Christy Hall and stars Sean Penn alongside Johnson. During the interview, Kimmel presented a clip from the film to the audience.
While playing the video clip, Kimmel noticed that Johnson was struggling to hold up her dress. Kimmel, 56, immediately expressed concern and said, “Dakota, your dress just fell apart. Are you OK?” He even offered to help her, saying, “Should I get some scotch tape?” However, she responded, “My dress — it just fell apart!” and added, “OK, I’ll hold it up.”
For the interview, the Persuasion star wore a sparkly black dress that featured floral metallic pieces as straps. It appeared that one strap was broken, causing Johnson to have to hold it around her chest to keep it from falling down. When the two laughed about the situation, Kimmel joked, “Just hold the important part. That’s it, you’re set.”
This isn’t the first time Johnson has suffered a wardrobe malfunction on live television. During the 2019 People’s Choice Awards, something went wrong with her dress when she went on stage to accept the award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress from Leslie Mann.
When she hugged Mann, her two-piece dress broke, causing her top to nearly fall off. At the time, she joked, “It’s not like anyone here has seen my boobs,” referencing her nude scenes in the Fifty Shades franchise.
