A day after reports of Daljeet Kaur filing an FIR against estranged husband Nikhil Patel broke, the television actress confirmed the news by sharing a thank you note for the Mumbai Police on her Instagram handle. In the note shared, Daljeet wrote, “I was very nervous while entering the police station but your kindness and sensitive approach towards my plight was truly touching.” Thanking the police personnel, Daljeet wrote, “Thank you Agripada Police Station for letting a woman know that she is safe in this country.”
Expressing her feelings, Daljeet Kaur wrote in the caption, “I couldn’t stop myself from writing my experience of filing the FIR. A big thank you to Joint Commissioner of Police Anil Paraska for being so amazing. Thank you to Agripada Police Station for being so efficient and kind. Your quick response made me believe that I was being heard and I was safe. Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishan Kant Sir listened to me with patience. And in no time Senior Inspector Yogendra Pache Sir of Agripada Police Station heard the entire matter in detail. I couldn’t believe that we were being served water to calm us down and we immediately felt very safe to speak the truth.”
Daljeet further added, “Sir made me and my father feel very comfortable as he could see that I was shaken by whatever was happening. The investigating officer Sachin Shelke sir then carried forward the entire FIR with a lot of patience and empathy. There was a woman constable who was present in the room during my filing. Now I am sure that when you are on the right side of the law and the side of truth, the Indian police empowers you. Now I know that women are safe in our country.” Check out what she posted here:
Earlier, a Times Now report claimed that Daljeet had accused Nikhil of cruelty and criminal breach of trust and filed a complaint under sections 85 and 316 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.
In June, Nikhil issued her a “written cease and desist letter”, which was reported by ETimes. In an interview with ETimes, Nikhil Patel said that his legal team has made it very clear that they will not tolerate any further harassment, and “if Daljeet continues her unlawful actions, the strictest legal action will be taken against her.” A few days ago, Daljeet Kaur had shared a wedding video on her Instagram feed and she later deleted it. Before that, Daljeet Kaur had hinted at Nikhil Patel’s extramarital affairs by sharing a poll on her Instagram Stories.
Daljeet Kaur and Nikhil Patel got married in March 2023 and moved to Nikhil’s home in Kenya. In February this year, Daljeet returned to India with her son Jaydon. Soon after, the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted several posts, sparking rumours of their separation. Daljeet had also hinted at problems in their marriage by sharing posts about extramarital affairs on social media. Nikhil later confirmed their separation in an interview with ETimes.
