Washington DC: Actor Francisco San Martin, who played Dario Hernandez on ‘Days of Our Lives,’ has died at the age of 39, Deadline reports.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, as cited by Deadline, the cause of death was suicide by hanging at his Los Angeles home on January 16.
San Martin’s stint on ‘Days of Our Lives’ lasted six months in 2011. His first appearance in the series was as a petty thief who turns out to be an officer who has arrived in Salem to investigate a cold case.
His character went to Argentina after a job promotion. The character of Francisco was later portrayed by actor Jordi Vilasuso from 2016–17.
The actor’s additional credits include an arc on ‘Jane the Virgin’ opposite Gina Rodriguez. He appeared in seasons 3 and 4. Jane had a brief and messy relationship with the actor in the series.
Hollywood is in shock after hearing the news of the actor’s demise. According to Forbes cited by Deadline, actor Camila Banus, who played her on-screen sister Gabby on ‘Days of Our Lives’, paid tribute to San Martin via her Instagram handle.
“Pepe, what can I say but I love you and may your soul rest in peace, my friend,” she wrote, adding, “Love you very very much; I wish I had told you more.”
San MartÃn began his acting journey in children’s theater productions while growing up in Montana. According to Deadline, the actor later returned to Madrid as a teen, where he worked as a model and began taking acting classes.
Eventually, he graduated and began appearing in stage, TV, and film productions in Spain. The actor is also known for his roles in ‘Behind the Candelabra’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’.
Francisco’s death has deeply affected his loved ones and his fans and colleagues have mourned, remembering his skill and the joy he brought to his fans.
