Deadpool and Wolverine made the MCU the first film franchises to cross the $30 million mark.
One of the most anticipated films of the year, Deadpool and Wolverine have helped the MCU achieve a historic milestone at the global box office. The Marvel Cinematic Universe produced by Disney has achieved the historic milestone of $30 billion at the global box office and is the first film to do so. The third film in the Deadpool franchise was taken over by Marvel Studios when Disney acquired Fox Studios in 2019.

Deadpool and Wolverine took the MCU to a historic milestone
The Marvel franchise’s historic global milestone was announced during a presentation led by chief Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H. The announcement came after the film had a stellar opening day with $96 million in North America, which is the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film and the sixth-biggest of all time as reported by Variety.
The Deadpool and Wolverine movie is being called a potential savior for the Marvel franchise, as its last few releases have had poor box office openings. The film is projected to gross $195 million to $205 million domestically and $380 million to $400 million globally by Sunday.
The film brought the Merc with a Mouth and the rest of the X-Men legend together on an adventure to save the Merc’s home universe and remind Wolverine of his purpose once again.

Other film franchises included in the highest-grossing list
Other film franchises to achieve this milestone include the Sony-produced Spider-Man franchise, which grossed $10.6 billion across 10 films, followed by the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars grossed $10.3 billion across 11 films, as did the Harry Potter series, also consisting of 11 films, which grossed $9.6 billion at the global box office. The James Bond franchise grossed $7.8 billion across 25 films.
