Speaking in a new interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Agnihotri questioned whether the actor really knew about the political weight that his support was done by the silent show of his support. Vivek said, “I can guarantee that Deepika had no idea about JNU politics when she went there.”

According to him, Deepika was probably misled by her PR team, who would have seen the incident as an opportunity to promote her 2020 film Chhap, which deal with a socially sensitive issue.

When he was directly asked if he felt that Deepika was’ dumb ‘, Agnihotri clarified,’ It is not about being dumb. Her PR must have told her that this is a good opportunity to promote your film, as the university is associated with politics, and the film is also political. If she had known, she would not come. ,

He also accepted the unavoidable risks that entered the political field – intentionally or not. ‘You play with fire, you burn. ,

Calling Deepika Padukone a smart woman, she said that if she knows that she was politically sensitive, she would not be seen there. He further said, ‘I do not know her personally, so I do not know with which ideology she aligns. I know she is a very smart and intelligent woman. If she knew that it was a politically sensitive place and it could affect her career, she would not have gone. During the film promotion, a lot of voices show what the stars to do and whom to talk to. His PR was wrong, he felt that it was an incident. But this was not an incident. The larger fish is fried to joining politics. The filmmaker concluded.

About Chopp

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapak showed Deepika Padukone as Malty, who is a young woman who fights for justice and social change after avoiding a terrible acid attack. However, acclaimed by critics for her sensitive story and Deepika’s powerful performance, the film partially struggled at the box office due to the backlash after the presence of an actor in a JNU protest.
