The Delhi High Court which was hearing two arguments challenging the Center’s verdict, which was allowing the release of the film Udaipur filesOn August 4, the parties were directed to appear before the government and submission to them.
On Friday (August 1, 2025), the Center informed the Delhi High Court that it was withdrawing its decision for the release of the film. Udaipur files – Kanhaiya Lal Tailor MurderAnd “Afresh” will take a decision on the amendment petitions.
The court, which was hearing two arguments challenging the Center’s decision, which allowed the release of the film, directed the parties to appear and submission to the government on August 4.
The court was informed by a lawyer for the film’s producer that the film was scheduled to release on August 8 and would take some time to arrange to release theaters by entangling it.
The court made a record statement by Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, also represented as the Central Government’s Central Film Certification (CBFC), the government will withdraw the earlier verdict for the release of the film and “will withdraw a decision on the amendment petitions liked by the petitioners.”
In view of the submission, the court disposed of two petitions filed by Mohammad Javed, one of the accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, and Jamit Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani.
The Center’s lawyer had said that the film had to undergo the first two-phase filter by the censor board, suggesting 55 cuts, and second by the committee, who asked for six further cuts, a total of 61 cuts.
Javed’s lawyer objected to the release of the film on the basis that it would bias his case during the test.
In Rajasthan, a Udaipur -based tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in 2022, allegedly Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghaus, after controversial comments on Probate Mohammed, to share a social media post in support of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. The case is pending before the Special NIA court in Jaipur.
