New Delhi: At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a powerful explosion in a car parked near the Red Fort on Monday evening, Delhi Police said. The blast occurred around 7 pm at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the historical monument, setting at least six vehicles and three autorickshaws ablaze, with a total of 24 vehicles damaged. Fire fighting teams immediately brought the fire under control.
Home Minister Amit Shah said that teams of Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch reached the spot within 10 minutes. He said, “A Hyundai i20 car exploded at Subhash Marg traffic signal near Red Fort in Delhi today at around 7 pm. Some pedestrians were injured and some vehicles were damaged in the blast. Initial reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving information about the blast, teams from Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch reached the spot.”

The Bollywood fraternity took to social media to mourn and express their condolences to the victims of the Delhi Red Fort blast.
Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon expressed grief over the incident, calling it “horrible” and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He wrote, “Condolences to all the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the Delhi blasts. Terrible news.”

Actor Sonu Sood expressed his heartfelt condolences and urged people to support the victims. He wrote, “I express my condolences to everyone affected by the tragic blast that took place today near the Red Fort in Delhi. Let us support the victims, take care of each other and commit to peace.”

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni took to Instagram to pray for the victims and their families. He wrote, “Saddened by the blast, may they find the culprits and give them severe punishment. Prayers and more prayers.”
The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam party leader also expressed grief and sorrow on X (formerly Twitter), expressed condolences to the families and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
