Sixth entry despicable Me Franchise and 2017 sequel Despicable Me 3, i am despicable 4 Felonious Gru (Steve Carell) is seen going to a reunion at his school, Lycée Pas Bonn. But he is also undercover for the Anti-Villain League (AVL) to capture Maxine Le Mal (Will Ferrell).
Maxine and Gru have had a rivalry going back to their school days, most notably when Gru sang Culture Club’s ‘Karma Camelion’ at the talent show dressed as Boy George. Maxine, who was planning to sing the same song dressed as Boy George, couldn’t do it because everyone would think she was imitating Gru (shudder).

Story: Gru and his family are moved to a safe house after some of his activities in the AVL. However, there is no rest for Rogue as she is tormented by an old school rival and a new fan

Maxine develops several villainous traits, including a machine that transforms people into advanced insects. Gru arrests Maxine, who promptly escapes from AVL’s maximum security prison with the help of her deadly girlfriend Valentina (Sofia Vergara) and vows revenge on Gru and his family.
Former AVL director Silas Ramsbottom (Steve Coogan) comes out of retirement to transport Gru and his family, including his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig), adopted daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Geyer) and Agnes (Madison Pollan), and son Gru Jr. (Tara Strong), to a safe house in the upscale Mayflower neighborhood.

Although Cunningham’s cover name, Gru, tries to blend in, he stands out. Gru’s attempt to befriend his neighbor, the super-rich Perry Prescott (Stephen Colbert), fails, while Lucy’s efforts at the hair salon end in an epic failure with a customer, Melora (Laraine Newman), burning her hair. Perry’s wife Patsy (Chloe Fineman) invites the Cunninghams to a game of tennis, which Lucy knows has no sign of being accepted.
Prescott’s daughter Poppy (Joey King), however, recognizes Gru and blackmails him into joining a robbery to steal the school’s mascot. Apart from the three Minions (Pierre Coffin) who accompany the Gru family, everyone else is at AVL headquarters and Silas puts the five into a program to create super-powered Mega Minions. The program is quickly shut down as the Mega Minions cause all sorts of mayhem under the guise of helping.
The voice work is fun, with most of the gang reprising their roles. Romesh Ranganathan plays Gru’s quartermaster Dr. Nefario and Chris Renaud plays the stern Principal Uebelschlecht, as do Ferrell and Vergara. Some of the sequences are inventive, especially the one with the Mega Minion and the Swiss cheese.
things keep happening i am despicable 4It’s 94 minutes long and the credits start rolling before you know what’s going on, which might be a good thing if you want to be constantly pressured with jokes. i am despicable 4 It’s fun while it lasts, but it can’t be synonymous with sustainability.
