The craze for Coldplay in India is evident from the fact that lakhs of fans stood in a virtual queue for hours to get tickets for their Mumbai concert. The Grammy-winning rock band is set to perform three shows in Mumbai in January 2025 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. In fact, there was such a demand for Coldplay tickets that the band even added a third show on January 21 to their previous lineup of January 18 and 19.
Coldplay tickets 3 Lakh
Despite the third show, thousands of Coldplay fans are disappointed as they haven’t got tickets. Although Coldplay tickets are officially sold out on BookMyShow, the only authorized platform for ticket sales, the re-selling platform has listed them at a hefty markup.
Coldplay tickets are listed for between $100 and $150 on reselling platforms like Viagogo. Discounts of up to Rs 3 lakh have been given. This is despite the fact that BookMyShow has warned against buying tickets from unauthorized platforms.
A quick search for Coldplay tickets led HT.com to Viagogo, an online marketplace where ticket prices for the January 18 show start at From 38,000 to the highest level Rs 3 lakh
Tickets for the “lounge” section of the DY Patil Stadium, where Coldplay will perform, were originally listed at On BookMyShow it is up to Rs 35,000. On Viagogo it is up to Rs 35,000. 3 lakh rupees. And one candidate has even said that the price of a level 1 ticket is very high. Rs 7.7 lakh
These listings are live despite BookMyShow warning that tickets purchased from the resale platform will be considered invalid.
“It has come to our notice that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025 in India before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid. Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law,” BookMyShow posted on X, advising fans to “avoid fraud”.
Coldplay fans blame BookMyShow
The warning that tickets from unauthorised platforms would be considered illegal did little to pacify disappointed Coldplay fans who failed to get tickets. In fact, many fans accused BookMyShow of creating a system that benefits illegal scalpers.
Many fans accused BookMyShow of not linking tickets to booking IDs, which means anyone can purchase tickets and later sell them at a higher price.
Others said BookMyShow had “hoarded” tickets for high-income individuals, influencers and its own employees, creating an artificial supply gap.
An ex-user posted, “The official partner (BMS) has parked god knows how many tickets for their employees, random insta influencers, politicians and other celebs. As soon as the tickets went live, they were listed on resale platforms for 20-30 times the price – this mostly wouldn’t have been possible without BMS’s connivance.”
“How does @viagogo get the same Coldplay tickets as @bookmyshow but at several times higher prices on the black market? Clearly there’s collusion and BMS is selling them to Viagogo. It’s a scam!” asked another user.
Coldplay fans, who failed to get tickets for all three of the band’s concerts in Mumbai, also accused BookMyShow of creating a virtual queue based on session IDs instead of customer IDs.
