Dhananjay, fondly called Daali due to the popularity of his manic character in the 2018 blockbuster Tagaru, He has completed 11 years in Kannada cinema. He is waiting for the release of his upcoming film Category, Directed by Param.
the actor said Hindu The film is about his journey as he struggled to establish himself as an actor, before becoming a successful star and producer.
The general elections and the Indian Premier League (IPL) challenged the film industry. Now that both events are over, do you think it will be a challenge for the film industry? Category Will it attract the audience?
IPL really keeps people busy and it has an impact on movies as well. This tournament is a popular choice for entertainment. Also, people are busy watching matches because of the online betting system. In the last six months, we have struggled to bring people to the theatres. I think such things have failed to attract the audience. herbivorous and winkThey should have received more love than they did when they released in theatres. People are talking about them more now that they are online. There is still no concrete solution to the problem of empty theatres. Good films often succeed, and we hope so too Crore.
According to the trailer, Category It looks like a common man thriller. Will the film be able to balance the thriller elements with social drama?
Category This is not a typical thriller. I won’t reveal much about the film. I can assure you that it is a good and believable film about a middle class man. This film will keep you hooked. The story is very new and you won’t be able to compare it with any other film. I really liked Parameshwar Gundkal’s writing. When I was reading the script, I felt like I was reading a short novel.
On one side you have your fans and on the other side you have the audience of your shows which are telecast on OTT platform. Also, you like to experiment. Apart from this, what do you want to become as a young star?
I am enjoying my versatility. My fans expected me to play a character like Daali Taggaru in every film. I am trying to break that image with every film. It is easy to follow the formula of a ‘masala’ film, but I am trying to be different. When I read the script Rathnan PrapanchaI knew the people who liked my short film, Jayanagar 4th Block, They will love this film. They are a group of people who love watching family dramas. First day of shooting Ratnan Prapancha, My fans were shocked to see me riding a Splendor bike in formal attire. They felt this image change was not ideal for my career. As an actor, you can appeal to a single audience or appeal to a wide range of people. I chose the other path.

like after the hit Rathnan Prapancha And Badawa Rascal, You acted in it Twenty one hours, Bairagi, Monsoon Raga And Once upon a time, in Jamaliguda. None of these four films made any significant impact. Did they halt the momentum of your career?
When the film industry shut down during the pandemic, I was one of the few actors who worked. After the first wave of the pandemic, till April 2022, I worked non-stop, day and night. The money I got from playing a villain in a film (Bairagi) or supporting characters (twenty one hours) helped me build another Badawa Rascal And Head Bush As a producer, both the films were hits. The success of both the films increased my market and producers are confident about investing in me. Also, all the films you mentioned made some profit and kept the industry going. I did 4-5 back-to-back films because I was in a situation where I had to make money and invest in projects I believed in.

If the three Shettys from Mangalore (Rakshith, Raj and Rishabh) promoted culture and language through their films, the films you have made or starred in have told the story of the middle class…
this be it Badawa Rascal, Rathnan PrapanchaOr CategoryAll of these tell the story of the middle class. Such films have a common man hero who loves his family. Great actors like Dr. Rajkumar and Anant Nag pioneered this genre in their time. Tagaru Palyawhich attempts to portray a comical drama revolving around a ritual in a village, showcasing the culture seen in and around Mandya district. Another such example is Orchestra Mysore. The orchestra culture is over in India. We have moved on to music reality shows. But, the film depicts the lives of orchestra singers in Mysore who struggle to make a living from their dying profession. Uttarakhand, My upcoming big budget film will be shot entirely in North Karnataka and the characters will speak Kannada in the local dialect.
