The legendary actor had spent 12 days in hospital due to severe breathing problems, he shared his voice note on social media. The makers shared the new poster featuring the ‘Sholay’ actor on Instagram and captioned it, “Fathers raise sons. Legends raise nations. Dharmendra ji is an emotional powerhouse as the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier. One timeless legend brings us the story of another. #IkkisTrailerOutNow Ikkis in theaters worldwide on 25th December 2025.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar took to Instagram to express the industry’s collective grief, describing Dharmendra’s demise as “the end of an era”. He wrote, “A huge megastar… the embodiment of a hero in mainstream cinema… incredibly handsome and the most enigmatic screen presence… he is and will always be a true legend of Indian cinema.” His message reflects the sentiments of millions of people who have grown up watching Dharmendra redefine stardom.
Many celebrities, filmmakers and colleagues visited the cremation ground to pay their respects. The atmosphere was sombre but reverent, reflecting Dharmendra’s immense influence on Hindi cinema across generations.

The latest poster features Dharmendra voicing the role of Brigadier ML Khetrapal, Arun Khetrapal’s father, who cherishes his late son’s bravery. The actor can be heard saying, “This is my elder son, Arun. He will always remain twenty-one.”

For those unaware, Brigadier ML Khetarpal played an important role in shaping his son Arun’s sense of duty. Their inspiring stories of courage and patriotism deeply influenced Arun’s decision to join the Indian Army. In the film, Agastya Nanda plays the character of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary bravery in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Sunny Deol’s team shared a statement confirming that the veteran actor will continue his treatment at home. “Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We request the media and public to avoid any speculation and respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,” the statement said.
