Dhurandhar Movie Review | ‘This is the new India, it will strike back’: Dhurandhar’s powerful action, a unique blend of patriotism and espionage.

After a long wait of two years, Ranveer Singh, who completes 15 years in the film industry this December, is making a grand comeback on the big screen with Aditya Dhar’s spy-action film Dhurandhar. The trailer and promo of the film have already created a buzz on social media, creating a lot of buzz among fans. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, the makers of this film have deliberately kept the story under wraps, so that the audience can experience the story in the theater for the first time. From the trailer, it appears that the film is inspired by real-life events, geopolitical tensions and intelligence operations run by RAW, specifically Operation Lyari: a government crackdown on crime syndicates in Karachi, Pakistan. ‘This is the new India – it will strike back and take revenge’: This sums up the spirit of Dhurandhar perfectly, and the film captures it perfectly.

Aditya Dhar’s explosive and highly cinematic new action drama, Dhurandhar, takes viewers straight into a tangled web of covert operations, gang warfare and high-level espionage. From Ranveer Singh’s intense undercover role to the film’s jaw-dropping action sequences, stunning visuals and heart-pounding soundtrack, this review takes a look at the production, performances and world-building of Dhurandhar that made it one of the most talked about films of the year.

Dhurandhar: The Story

Dhurandhar begins with the Kandahar hijacking of 1999, where India’s IB chief Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan) is determined to mount a strong response – but government compulsions stop him. Soon after, terrorists infiltrated India and attacked the Parliament in 2002. Then the government implements Ajay Sanyal’s scheme “Dhurandhar”.

The story then follows Hamza (Ranveer Singh) who moves from Afghanistan to Pakistan, where he has to join the gang of Rahman Daku (Akshay Khanna). During a wedding, Hamza risks his life to save Rahman’s son. Impressed, Rahman recruits him into the gang – and soon Hamza becomes his most trusted partner.
Within the gang, Hamza Jameel meets Yelina (Sara Arjun), daughter of Yamali (Rakesh Bedi). He takes advantage of her feelings to further his mission. During one of his assignments, Hamza goes to meet ISI Chief Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal) along with Rehman. Before his eyes, Iqbal commits the 26/11 attacks – an event that shakes Hamza.
Meanwhile, for political gain, Jameel joins hands with Yamali SP Chowdhury Aslam (Sanjay Dutt), and assigns him the task of eliminating Rahman dacoit.

How will ‘Dhurandhar’ take revenge for the 26/11 attack? What happens to Hamza and Yelina’s love story? And has Hamza ever returned to India? All this film is seen in 3 hours 34 minutes.

Dhurandhar: Strong performance

The casting of Dhurandhar is so strong that every actor excels in his place and sometimes even surpasses the others. On one side is Ranveer Singh – who is known for immersing himself completely in every character he plays. In Dhurandhar, he doesn’t just play his part; He lives it. Every frame proves his commitment. And it’s not just about her looks or style – the work done on her accent is equally amazing.
Off-screen Ranveer is known for his humor and lively personality but in Dhurandhar he has given such a performance that it is difficult to praise him.
Akshay Khanna also walks with him step by step. He delivers every dialogue with such precision and quiet intensity that it becomes difficult to take your eyes off him. Her role in the film is very important, and she dominates the screen with her sheer presence.
Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt have also done full justice to their characters. As the ruthless leader of a terrorist organization, Arjun Rampal looks so menacing in one scene that the audience may want to look away automatically. Equally impressive is Sanjay Dutt’s entry as SP Aslam Chowdhury, who leaves everyone in awe. R Madhavan has played the role of an Indian intelligence officer with complete sincerity. His scenes in the film may be less but whenever he appears, he completely dominates the screen. His expressions, his body language, and his overall presence as an intelligence officer, are all wonderful.
The actors playing small roles are not far behind – they are also excellent in their roles. Overall, from the lead to the supporting cast, every actor leaves a strong impression.

Dhurandhar: Music

It would not be wrong to say that the background score of Dhurandhar is its life. It’s not just music – it sounds like a resounding battle cry. Be it an explosion, a victory, or a big reveal, the background score adds to every moment and makes every scene feel more powerful. At many places, songs from the 80s and 90s have been used in new, innovative ways, giving new life to the series and increasing the adrenaline of the audience.

Should you book tickets for Dhurandhar?

Made under Aditya Dhar’s B62 banner and Jio Studios, Dhurandhar is not just another spy thriller – it’s a high-adrenaline patriotic action film that grabs your attention from the first frame and keeps you engaged till the end. With this film, Aditya Dhar has once again proved that his direction is sharp, precise and effective.
This film not only depicts terrorism but also the political environment of Pakistan. A deeper look also reveals the truth that how many people silently, anonymously and selflessly put their lives on the line to protect the country.
And if you’re still wondering whether or not you should book tickets, only two things can stop you: the length of the film, and the faint of heart, because the film is full of intense, graphic violence.
If there are none of these problems, then Dhurandhar is a film worth watching on the big screen.
