The war of words between Kendrick Lamar and Drake continues after the supposed conclusion of the hip-hop feud. In another revelation of a previously hidden page of the story, Elliot Wilson is again found in the middle of the proverbial action.
The hip-hop journalist, who recently appeared on the Joe Budden Podcast, shed light on some internal conversations that took place between himself and Drake. The said virtual conversation carried heavy implications, leading Drizzy to allegedly suspect the Rap Radar founder of leaking information to his hip-hop rival, K.Dot.
Wilson only opened up a handful of text chains, hiding other details of the online encounter under a layer of secrecy. The former XXL editor-in-chief revealed how Drake responded with a “rat emoji” when asked about his Kendrick Lamar diss track ‘Family Matters.’
Drake suspects Elliot Wilson is playing Kendrick Lamar’s informant
Wilson explained that Drake possibly suspected that he was in cahoots with Lamar during their feud and was passing on confidential information he obtained through conversations he had with them to the “Humble” rapper.

Mentioning that Drake had sent her a “rat emoji”, the Uproxx editorial director said, “He sent me something, but I can’t say what he sent me because if I tell you what he sent me, it reflects what he sent me.”
The renowned journalist also commented on the situation and speculated why Drake said he was “telling” Lamar off to the ‘Hotline Bling’ singer. Analyzing the photo further, he said that while the war of words between Drake and Kendrick was going on, he was in Venice at the same time as the Pulitzer-winning musician – another piece of the puzzle that fits with the alleged story that he held hands with the ‘Not Like Us’ hitmaker.
Wilson added, “I think he’s starting to think like Kendrick is in Venice, you’re in Venice, he’s starting to look at it in a way that I’m really against him.” Adding more fodder to the explanation, the American journalist told Joe Budden that when he tried to confirm the release schedule of ‘Family Matters’, Drake “hit [him] back like ‘yeah, yeah whatever LOL’ and then he sent [him] A rat emoji.”
In addition to his comments on the podcast, Wilson directly addressed allegations that he leaked Drake’s information to Kendrick in a conversation with a fan on social media, who called him a “two-timing rat.”

User @kz3354 continued the ongoing discussion on X/Twitter with their quote-tweet: “Yeah. Elliott has a show with DJ Head. Drake told Elliott that Family Matters was ending that night… Elliott shared this with DJ Head… and DJ Head informed Kendrick and Twitter… then MTG happened. Hey @ElliottWilson what if that happened?”
Wilson eventually responded with a “cap emoji”, followed by “tat tat”, and dismissed the speculation as false claims.
She and Drake have even been at each other’s throats. Despite their previous working relationship, it appears they have grown apart. There have been several signs of this, as the hip-hop auteur has reportedly stopped rocking gear from OVO, a lifestyle brand founded by Aubrey. Conversely, Drizzy has also reportedly unfollowed her on social media.
The writer clearly tweeted in favor of Lamar during the hip-hop battle, as he doubled down on the ‘Family Ties’ rapper’s “victory lap” in May: “King Kendrick beat Drake by giving him a taste of his own medicine.” This came just days after Wilson gave a weak rendition of Drake’s ‘The Heart Part 6’: “All the songs in the battle were good. Except for Drake’s last song.”
The music journalist and Drake have had a good friendship in the past. However, last summer, Drizzy did not take Drake’s criticism lightly. Drizzy responded to his “comedy pranks with outsiders of our culture” comment with a reply under the DJ. Academician’s Instagram posted: “Hahaha, dude, this is the second time he’s talking crap about her not coming on stage and now Elliot 10, yeah, Jules is running around doing interviews at Rolling Loud… [J]I must admit that the youngsters have taken over the big dog.”
Wilson did not let the matter drop. He later responded, “Oh, it’s about time. Great.”
