Did Justin Timberlake really receive ‘special treatment’ in DWI case?

Justin Timberlake recently got into trouble after a run-in with the law, but the pop star seems to have escaped any major legal action. But what about preferential treatment for celebrities?

radaronline The report points out that Timberlake was able to leverage his celebrity status to secure a lenient plea deal in a New York court, thereby avoiding harsh penalties after initially being charged with a DWI. And here’s the biggest question: Is this the way justice is served for A-listers?

The “Sexy Back” singer convinced both prosecutors and the presiding judge to accept a plea deal that reduced the charge against him to driving while impaired.

Timberlake’s original drunk driving charge could have led to much more serious legal consequences. Instead, this mild charge is shocking people, with many claiming it’s another example of celebrities getting favorable treatment, especially in areas like the Hamptons.

“Stars are some of the biggest attractions. The last thing local authorities want is for them to leave because the police are targeting them. It’s bad for business,” a source told RadarOnline.

New York defense attorney Peter Gleason also weighed in, saying, “It’s the ugly truth that celebrities play a role in criminal proceedings. If [Justin] If Joe was a plumber, things could have been very different.”

However, Hampton’s D.A. assured Timberlake’s D.W.I. case will be treated “just like every other case.” He told Page Six, “One thing we want to make sure is … to be consistent, and we don’t want to treat any defendant better than others … because of some perceived notoriety they may have.”

Timberlake had to face the consequences

Sources have revealed that his driving license in New York state was suspended for 90 days after he refused to take a Breathalyzer test when he was stopped on June 18. The suspension is automatic if he refuses to take the test.

In addition, Timberlake was ordered to complete 25 hours of community service within a year and pay a fine of up to $500. The court also ordered him to make a formal apology after leaving court, which he did. The judge acknowledged the singer’s remorse and thanked him for “speaking from the heart.”
