Following the arrest and subsequent indictment of music icon Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs on September 16, another incident that highlights his past has resurfaced. A decades-old rumor about the Bad Boy Records founder, his ex-girlfriends Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith has emerged from beneath the sea, as a widely circulated video from a Jimmy Kimmel Live segment made the rounds on social media.
The TV host put Combs in the hot seat, forcing him to address the rumor that the Hancock star and his wife tried to get Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, J.Lo, together while they were still dating. For reference, Lopez and the Bad Boy for Life dated on and off from 1999 to 2001. This particular conversation between Kimmel and the rapper resurfaced along with dozens of other videos that give a glimpse into the disgraced mogul’s allegedly questionable history.
What is the Diddy-Jennifer Lopez rumor that also involves Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith?
Late last year, Diddy appeared on the talk show. Jimmy took the opportunity and asked the infamous question, leaving him speechless. The awkward atmosphere can be clearly seen on the screen when the scene unfolds.

“Hey, speaking of love, I saw a guy on the Internet the other day. He said he used to be your security guard,” Kimmel began, getting to the point.
“She said that when you were dating J.Lo, Will Smith and Jada tried to get her into a threesome and that you were going to beat up Will Smith. Is that true?”

Combs was at a loss for words and remained silent. Although the singer stared at Kimmel expressionlessly for a moment, the drastic change in his demeanor compared to a second ago was clearly visible.
P. Diddy immediately changed the mood once again, quipping: ‘This show has gotten crazier since the last time I was here.’
Jimmy pushed him again, “But it’s all about love, isn’t it true?” Diddy completely denied this claim as he questioned its credibility. “No! No, you really heard that?”
Jimmy joked, “Yeah, I saw it on the Internet. You’re saying I can’t believe everything I read?”
Diddy laughed incredulously at the suggestion, saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Jimmy, I thought we were friends.”

How did this rumor originally spread?
Many of the musician’s former associates or remotely connected contacts have been actively speaking out against him ever since CNN leaked an old surveillance video showing Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a California hotel. Diddy’s former bodyguard Gene Deal has also been vocal about his alleged morally gray history for some time now. Interestingly, Jimmy Kimmel was also referencing an episode of The Art of Dialogue podcast in which Deal mentioned a related rumor.
The former member of Bad Boy Records’ security team said on the podcast: “We were at a birthday party that I think Matt Damon was throwing for Ben Affleck. It was a small gathering at the Four Seasons. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Puff, Will Smith and Jada were sitting there. [one] At the edge of the room.”
She continued, “[Puff] stood up. And when he stood up, he walked and moved his arms in a certain way as if [crossing them]I went up to him and he told me, ‘Yo, I think Will and Jada are trying to pick up Jennifer. I want you to stay close because I’m going to kill her.’”

Deal added, “It was all in good fun. She thought Jada and Will were being too handsy and overbearing with Jennifer.”
A federal indictment was issued against the rapper on September 17, 2024, charging him with three counts of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution by means of force, fraud or coercion. He has denied all charges.
