Diljit performed to a packed hall at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada last weekend. He created history again as he became the first Punjabi artist to fill the venue. Diljit shared excerpts of his performance on popular tracks like Born to Shine on Instagram Stories and he got a massive round of applause from the crowd.

He also shared a video on his feed in which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau surprised him. Dressed in a white T-shirt and brown pants, Justin met Diljit before the show. Dressed in a yellow striped shirt and a red turban, Diljit was overjoyed to meet the Canadian Prime Minister and greeted him with a hug. Justin also met Diljit’s team and crew and he asked Diljit and Justin to cheer on the singer’s trademark line, “Punjabis aa gaye oye” (Punjabis are here).

Diljit wrote in the caption, “Diversity is the strength of 🇨🇦. Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau came to witness history being made: we sold out all the tickets at Rogers Centre!” Justin shared the same video on his Instagram feed, along with another carousel post of pictures with Diljit and his team. He wrote in that caption, “Stopped in at Rogers Centre to wish @diljitdosanjh luck before his show. Canada is a great country – where a boy from Punjab can make history and sell out all the tickets at stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a superpower.”

Internet response

Diljit’s fans flooded the comments section of his post to celebrate his new success. One of them commented, “Punjabis are making India famous. They are putting them on the map!
