Controversy around ‘Sardar Ji 3’
‘Sardar Ji 3’ found himself in trouble earlier this year when it was revealed that Pakistani actor Hania Aamir was cast with Diljit. After the Pahalgam terror attack in April, emotions in India smeared, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWIS) inspired the film to refuse the release certificate to appeal to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
As a result, the manufacturers chose to completely give up the Indian dramatic release, rather than a foreign rollout. Addressing the controversy, Diljit told the BBC Asian Network, “Everything was fine when this film was made. We shot it in February and things were fine. After that, a lot of big things happened which were beyond our control. So films decided that the film was no longer released in India, so they left it.
Backlash has not stopped there. Major film bodies have also urged the producers of ‘Border 2’ to remove Diljit from artists, and similar calls have been made for director Imtiaz Ali, who are allegedly working on another project with the star.
