Casting is the most important thing when I make a film. Sun Ettan (Venjaramudu) received the Kerala State Film Award for my first film, which made me very happy. I want to continue that high, and I hope one of the actors of this film will get an award as they have all done very well. He has performed brilliantly. I was particularly that all actors/characters should ‘perform’ in it. Although the characters I have written have an arc, clarity comes when ‘body’ (actor) moves. The character grows with their arrival, not on the set but during pre-production discussions. I do not discuss the character on the set, I tell them what they should not do. At the end of the day, the directors cannot become a character, give it a body. He can only do an actor. And often, when the actors carried forward the performance, I can only think as a director … ‘Wow! I did not think about it in this way! ,
