It’s not often (read: never) that one gets the chance to sail the seas with Captain Mickey Mouse and his entertaining companions, all from the fictional worlds of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. Imagine a navy blue hull, white top deck, yellow lifeboats… Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Adventure, is set to begin sailing three- and four-night voyages from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Center in 2025 for the next five years, making it their first ship to homeport in Asia. At a media event held in Singapore, Buzz (toy Story), Spiderman and Elsa (frozen), the cruise line shared a sneak peek of the ship, which is still under construction in Germany.

“At the heart of this experience will be beloved Disney characters with stories of imagination, fantasy and discovery. Captain Mickey will embody the spirit of Disney Adventure,” says Sarah Fox, vice president and regional general manager, Asia, Disney Cruise Line. This year marks 25 years of the cruise line’s existence – they first set sail in 1998.

The 208,000-gross-ton Disney Adventure is estimated to have a passenger capacity of about 6,700 and a crew of about 2,500. Seemingly a seamless blend of design, entertainment and technology, the ship will be divided into seven immersive experience zones. “The ship is designed like a treasure map with experiences where magic meets the sea,” says Laura Cabo, portfolio executive creative director, Walt Disney Imagineering. All seven zones are inspired by Disney storytelling. The first is Disney Imagineering Gardens, the emotional heart of the ship with a garden: an enchanted valley created through the ship. “Here, you can see characters flying behind you,” says Laura. Moana,

ToyStory Place is a playground with themed dining venues and water play areas where Pixar characters play toy Story Come alive. Disney Discovery Reef is where families can shop and dine with their favorite aquatic characters set in sea stories. “Think, Luca, lilo and stitch, finding Nemo…” says Laura. Townsquare is where the Disney royals hang out – there will be lounges, cafes and restaurants that make it feel “summer in full bloom” in the company of Ariel, Rapunzel and Jasmine. San Fransokyo is inspired by Big Hero 6and features a street market hosting shops, theaters and more. Marvel’s biggest characters will unite in Marvel’s Landin, an area of adventure for people of all ages.
