On this day, it is considered highly auspicious for buying gold, silver, utensils, or other valuable items because it is believed that it brings prosperity and good fortune. Homes and business complexes are decorated with lamps and rangoli. Devotees worship Lord Dhanwantari of Ayurveda for health and welfare.
Yama Deepam – Saturday, October 18, 2025
On the same day, people also inspect Yama Deepam, where a lamp (lamp) is burnt in the evening to remove negative energies at the entrance of the houses and to honor the god of death, Lord Yama, who asks for security for the family.
Day 2: Choti Diwali (Naraka Chaturdashi) – Monday, October 20, 2025

Choti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, reminds us of Lord Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakasura. On this day, people get up early, apply fragrant oil, and ritual baths. Day 3: Diwali / Lakshmi Puja – Tuesday, October 21, 2025

It is the main Diwali day and the most important part of the festival. The devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity with Lord Ganesha, demands blessings for happiness, success and abundance.
Families clean and decorate their homes, light lamps and candles, and in the evening Grand Lakshmi worships. Fireworks, feasts and gifts interaction add to the attraction of the festival.
Day 4: Govardhan Puja – Wednesday, October 22, 2025

The fourth day of Diwali is dedicated to Govardhan Puja, which is also known as Annakut. Many communities use cow dung using symbolic Govardhan hills and worship them as part of rituals.

The last day of Diwali is celebrated as a brother dose, which respects the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. The sisters apply a formal tilak to their brothers’ foreheads, pray for their long life, and offer sweets, while brothers in turn give gifts. It is similar to Raksha Bandhan but Diwali is observed with enthusiasm.
