Noodles of the World @Spree Firit

What better way to start the year than with some cooking inspiration? Illustrator Vijaya Aswani has dedicated her 2026 calendar to noodles and its various versions around the world. For example, January is dedicated to Japan’s ramen, April to India’s falooda, October to Spain’s fideua, and December to Malaysian mee goreng. “The calendar features 12 noodle-shaped dishes and their chefs from around the world. I love creating edible noodles in 2D with colorful, traditional outfits on my warm, smiling characters,” says the Bengaluru-based artist. “My favorite layout is Idiyappam and Stew for the month of May. The spread features a Malayali character in his checkered blue mundu making massive Idiyappam.”

Art Forward @Saras Art Desk

Art became Sarah ST’s lifeline in 2019 when everything around “felt uncertain and out of control”. “I was at a point where most people had given up, and many even questioned why I still chose to draw. But art was the only thing that mattered to me when no one else did. It gave me peace when I had no one else, and Gradually, it gave me back myself.” I learned the tools one by one, often by trial and error, and over time, it became my language,” says Sarah, whose 2026 calendar is titled The Artist’s Way. “It’s a tribute to the way artists live their lives, to the chaos of the everyday, a little mess and the quiet magic that comes with creation. The calendar encourages everyone to explore whatever form of art they choose.”

Cityscapes inherited @Madras

This year, the city-based initiative highlighting Chennai’s heritage has dedicated its annual calendar to the city’s Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. Now in its sixth edition, the Madras Inherited x Binson Omman Baby Madras Calendar features vibrant photographs of Central Station, Madras University among others. “This distinctive style unique to Chennai came to prominence after 1857, a time when significant changes occurred in Indian policies and principles. While some see it as the pinnacle of Indo-European architectural innovation, it can also be understood as a strategic political tool used by the colonialists to shape the visual narrative of Madras,” says trustee Ashmita Atreya. At the end of each month, each calendar page can be turned into a picture card/postcard. “There is something unique about the QR code on the back of every photo,” she adds.

Kitty Paws @Archana & Co.

This is for cat lovers. Design consultant Archana Rajagopal created her first calendar in 2019 and it has been an annual event ever since. “I use my life and thoughts for inspiration. When I got my first cat, I found my favorite collection. I have four cats now, and they are the heart of my calendar,” says the Mumbai-based artist. The 2026 calendar is Arcana’s third cat calendar, but it takes a slightly different approach from previous calendars. “Whereas my first one included cheeky life lessons, this one is more warm-hearted: It’s an affirmation calendar, where each month offers gentle encouragement and hope for the tough days. It all comes from how I imagine my cats would use affirmations,” she says.

Evergreen Calendar @Picky Artz

While most calendars turn into art prints (at most) after the year is completed, these two editions by artist Nikila Perumal are long-lasting editions. Titled Be Vibe (₹1,499) and Evergreen Aura (₹1,799), the wooden calendars are crafted from wood and hand-painted with non-toxic colours. “Each piece is created to be long-lasting, functional and eco-conscious, offering a timeless alternative to disposable annual calendars,” says the Coimbatore-based artist. “These are permanent calendars and are meant to be with you forever. Simply rotate the wooden blocks to determine the correct month and date. Two numbered blocks allow you to display any date from 1-31, and a tapered month block lets you change the month easily. “This mechanism is simple, durable, and designed for everyday use,” explains Nikila. The evergreen Aura Calendar symbolizes “growth, grounding, and balance” and takes its design from trees. As for the Bizarre Bee vibe, it’s centered around honeybees and “inspires you to embrace your authentic self and live with joy”, says the artist who also creates handmade wooden art, peg dolls and decor.

Craze Status @Doodleodrama

Designer Mounika Tata’s 2026 calendar aims to inspire people to find light and laughter in every day. Titled State of Play, it is designed to “embrace silliness and whimsy into all existing situations, and literally live in a state of ‘play'”. “All the characters in the calendar are goofy old people, which furthers the idea that no matter what age we are, we should never lose our sense of whimsy and wonder,” says Mounika. Each month’s spread highlights a long-forgotten English term: “That’s silly, light, nonsensical and maybe a little crazy.” The calendar comes with space for writing, a page for annual goals, and important dates and notes for each month. “The calendar also comes with two sticker sheets and the stand (cardboard back) is also fully printed.”
