Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was a months-long affair that was nothing short of a grand affair. The Reliance scion and his bride-to-be (who is also a member of the board of directors of Encore Healthcare)’s pre-wedding rituals began with their ‘signing’ in Jamnagar, Gujarat in March, which was attended by almost every prominent name from the showbiz and business world. This was soon followed by a 4-day cruise in the Mediterranean in June, which was just as star-studded as the 3-day ceremony in Jamnagar. With the ‘mass wedding’ successfully completed, the Ambanis are now busy preparing for the actual wedding, which will take place in Mumbai on July 12. The latest development is that rapper Drake and singers Adele and Lana Del Rey have been roped in to perform at the wedding. The news is creating a lot of buzz on the internet.
Rihanna was arguably one of the most spectacular attractions at Anant and Radhika’s Jamnagar celebrations. It was soon made even better by Katy Perry’s event during her water-related Mediterranean tour. While the news of Drake, Adele and Lana potentially performing at the Ambani wedding is certainly no surprise now, the scale of the wedding can only be gauged by the kind of names attached to it. Many on the Internet expressed how only Ambani can ensure Taylor Swift’s Mumbai visit now, given his track record. One comment on this read, “Taylor Swift ko bulao na 😭”. Incidentally, these are quite similar to the reactions the Internet got on the Jamnagar party, some of which were, “Ambani bas ab Taylor Swift ko India lekar aa jaoge toh maan loongi tumhein” and “Itna sab ko bulaya ho to ek baar Taylor Swift ko bhi bula hi lo Ambani sahab”. Given the impressive lineup of international artistes at the Ambani wedding, a funny comment inspired an Indian artist to come up with the idea. It read, “Sapna Chaudhary wale like karein ✅✅✅✅”.
Some internet users also shared their opinion on the long celebration. Comments on the song include: “World Cup is over, Euro 2024 is about to end, their marriage is not ending🙌🏻😅” and “Karlo ab shaadi ya kitni formalities rehta hai😂”. Some even drew a connection between the big-budget wedding and Jio’s rate hike, albeit jokingly.
If the news of Drake, Adele and Lana coming to Mumbai to perform at the Ambani wedding is true, the trio will join the list of stars who have previously performed for the Ambani family – namely Rihanna, Diljit Dosanjh, Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, Pitbull and David Guetta.
Anant and Radhika’s ‘shubh vivah’ is scheduled to take place on July 12. This will be followed by ‘shubh ashirwad’ on July 13 and ‘mangal utsav’ or wedding reception on July 14.
