One of the most beloved presidents of India, Dr. The life of APJ Abdul Kalam was adapted to the screen in the upcoming biopic. The film titled ‘Kalam’ titled National Award winning actor Dhanush, and was announced in the recent edition of Cannes Film Festival.
From Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr. Kalam’s life was a mixture of rocket science and irreversible spirit. Often called ‘Missile Man of India’, it increased from a modest start to become a famous aerospace scientist, visionary and eventually the president of the people. His legacy, his bestseling memoir joined the ‘Wings of Fire’, ignited the brains during generations.
Dhanush will be seen playing the role of Dr. Kalam in the film. The film will be directed by Om Raut, who finally directed ‘Edipurush’.
Talking about the film, Raut said in a statement, “In an era of true politicians, Kalam stood above politics and petition. He was a person who was known with education, excellence and indigenous innovation. There is a moral and cultural responsibility to bring his story on the screen. People do not matter who they are and where they come from”.
Film missile programs and the man will find out the man behind the presidency, poet, teacher, dreamer, whose every word took both science and spirituality in equal measures. More than a political biography, the project is deployed as an insight into leadership and nation-building.

Dr. Kalam, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna, is one of the main architects of the Indian Space Program, who is successful in the Indian Space Program’s father Vikram Sarabhai. Doctor Kalam was intimately involved in India’s civil space program and military missile development efforts as he worked in both the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
He is known for developing the Egony 1 missile, one of the crown jewels of the Indian arsenal, after India’s initial dependence on the BrahMos missile. The latter was recently used in Operation Sindoor – India’s anti -terrorism operation on Pakistan.
While Brahmos is a joint military venture between DRDO of India and NPO mashinostroyeniya of the Russian Federation, Agni 1 was developed indigenously.
Agni 1 is an atomic-capable, solid-fuel missile designed as a strategic weapon and preventive. Agni-1 has a limit of 700–1200 km and can carry a payload of up to 1,000 kg, including both traditional and nuclear war,. It is a single-phase missile and can be launched from rail-based or road-mobile platforms.
Dr. Kalam’s efforts have snowed in Agni 5 in the series, which India recently tested. It is a MIRV missile with intercontinental capabilities with a range of 5000 km. 3 stage missiles operate from solid-fuel, and can take 10 atoms to a time to the warhead, and can take the whole of China within the range of its target.
He also served as the 11th President of India as Chief Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister from July 1992 to December 1999, and is a national icon.
