Multiple Grammy-winning Canadian rapper Drake has his eyes set on Sunday’s Indian Premier League final in Chennai as he has placed his “first cricket bet” on actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team, which will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) today. Drake’s ‘first cricket bet’
On Saturday, Drake shared a screenshot on his Instagram Stories in which he is betting on KKR against SRH in the IPL final today. The screenshot claims that the odds of him winning the bet are 1.70. His bet is worth $250,000 and has an estimated payout of $425,000. “Since @ovorajaju team is out, I’m going with KKR for my first cricket bet (tearful laughing emoji) Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” Drake wrote along with the screenshot.
Drake was referring to his manager Sureshkumar Subramaniam, who goes by the Instagram handle @ovorajaju. Though his manager has selected the IPL team, it is clear that Drake will be seen cheering for Shah Rukh’s team in the IPL final today along with his manager. The fact that this is his first cricket stint is also a big deal for Drake and his trust in KKR.
About IPL Final
KKR topped the points table in the league stage with nine wins, three losses and two no results, giving them 20 points. They made it directly to the final after defeating SRH in Qualifier One. SRH got a second chance to win the title against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier Two and they made the most of it by defeating the Men in Pink by 36 runs.
The IPL final will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai at 7 pm today. Some of KKR’s star supporters will also be present at the stadium. These include Shah Rukh Khan and his family – wife Gauri Khan, sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, daughter Suhana Khan, her friends Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor, and KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. American band Imagine Dragons will also perform at the closing ceremony at 6 pm today.
