New Delhi: In a shocking move, the daughter of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has publicly announced her “divorce” from her husband Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum on Instagram.
The announcement comes just two months after the couple became parents. Sheikha Mahara posted a statement on her Instagram account, saying,
“Dear Husband,
Since you are busy with other partners, I declare divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care of yourself.
Your ex-wife.”
The news has caused a stir on social media, with many noticing that the couple have unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed all photos of each other from their profiles. Some speculate that the couple have blocked each other, while others wonder if Ms Sheikha Mahara’s account has been hacked.
The couple got married in May last year and welcomed their daughter 12 months later. Shaikha Mahara has previously spoken about her “most memorable experience” giving birth to the baby and thanked her doctor and hospital staff for their care.
Just a few weeks ago, the princess shared a cryptic post on Instagram in which she was seen hugging her baby and writing, “Just the two of us.” Now some are speculating that this might have been a sign of troubles in their marriage.
Sheikha Mahra is a supporter of women’s empowerment and local designers in the UAE. She holds a degree in International Relations from a university in Britain and also holds a college degree from the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Administration.
The divorce announcement has garnered mixed reactions.
One user praised the princess’ “courage and bravery”, adding: “I’m so proud of your decision!”
Meanwhile, others speculated, asking, “But the divorce will be from the husband’s side, right?”
And the wife has to choose ‘open’?
