Iranian director Jaffer Panahi accepted Palme D’Or for a film “It’s Just a accident” inspired by his time in jail at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

Panahi’s film is full of absurd humor and anger of equal parts, following five characters, who believed that he had identified the prosecutor, who tortured him during his custody, but because they were all blindfolded in jail, no one believes that his imprisonment is the same man.

The award ceremony otherwise planned more or less planned on a turbulent day for a quiet event, which was killed with the middle of a power blackout-a huge regional outage that disrupted the screening and created a general confusion among the attendees. Fortunately, backup generators were running at the festival, making sure the show would run in Palace, where the Jury President Juliet Binoche and eight other film actors took the stage to present their awards, the variety said.
Neon co-produced the layered family play “Sentimenial Value” of the Grand Prix winner, Norwegian director Jochim Trear, attempted to coast with her astraged daughter by casting her in her most personal film about a difficult filmmaker-she could not help the man’s most agotistical gesture.

Accepting the award, the Trear thanked the Cannes for promoting a place “where we can identify with each other in contemplation, in sympathy,” adding, “I don’t think the art is just something you do for purpose or understanding. We don’t know why we do this. It is something that I see and dance.
“Little Sister” Star Nadia Melity won the Best Actress Award. The best actor went to Wagner Maura for the honor “The Secret Agent”, in which he plays the role of a father who hides his identity in an attempt to avoid murder during the Brazilian military dictatorship. Cleber Mendonka Filho won the best director for the same film, according to the outlet.

Alice Roharwakar presented the camera D’Or Trophy for the first feature to Hasan Hadi, the director of “President’s Cake”, who accepted the first award to the Iraqi film in Cannes, reported by the variety.
Apart from Binoche, this year’s majority-female jury included Italian actress Alba Rohrwakar, Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia, Leela Sleemney of French-Morocco, Leela Sleemney, American stars Halle Berry and Jeremy Strong, South Korean Autore Hong Sangso, Mexican Director Carlos Regadas and Congolis.
